This seasonal position involves completing various laborer and small equipment operation tasks to produce quality asphalt paving.

Requirements

  • GED or high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Equipment maintenance & operation knowledge.
  • ND or MN Flagging Certification.
  • Ability to hold and maintain proper licensure and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime, possible nights, and some Saturdays.

Nice To Haves

  • CDL license (required for driving truck/skidsteer trailer combination).

Responsibilities

  • Safely perform labor tasks including measuring distance from grade stakes, driving stakes, and stretching tight lines.
  • Signal operators of construction equipment for alignment and movement according to grade specifications.
  • Level earth using a pick or shovel (Aggregate or Asphalt).
  • Level blacktop using a lute.
  • Raise manhole covers.
  • Perform flagging duties as needed.
  • Operate small, powered hand tools.
  • Operate small equipment including bobcat, tractor, or roller, and move equipment between sites.
  • Perform maintenance (lubricating, fueling, and cleaning) and operate small equipment such as bobcat, tractor, jackhammer, roller, pickup truck, air compressor, tractor/packer, steel drum or rubber tire roller.
  • Shovel excess material away from asphalt paver and dump truck units.
  • Remove road joints.
  • Hook up and unhook small trailers to pick-up trucks.
  • Fill sandbags.
  • Change bag house bags.
  • Operate skidsteer for clean-up of materials.
  • Drive truck/skidsteer trailer combination to transport skidsteer and other equipment and material from site to site (requires CDL license).
  • Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Always work safely and take action to prevent unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
