The Distributor Operator is responsible for safely operating and driving a truck equipped with a tank to spray oil or bituminous emulsions on road surfaces. This role involves performing daily inspections and maintenance on oil trucks, operating the truck's equipment, completing necessary documentation, assisting construction crews, and maintaining inventory. When not operating the distributor, you may assist with paving operations, including asphalt or base hauls, by operating a tandem or tractor-trailer combination or a water truck.

Requirements

  • Ability to hold and maintain a Class A or B CDL license with tanker endorsement in accordance with all state and federal DOT/FMCSA regulations
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime and some Saturdays.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.
  • Safely and properly perform maintenance (lubricating, fueling and cleaning) on oil truck.
  • Safely and properly operates truck equipped with oil or bituminous emulsions.
  • Connects hose from storage tank to truck tank and moves lever to fill pressure tank with bituminous liquid.
  • Regulates burner to heat liquid and starts auxiliary pump.
  • Drives truck at constant speed.
  • Completes load tickets
  • Assists construction crews while waiting to unload
  • Maintains proper information in truck cab pouch
  • Inventory and order tac
  • Cleans tac nozzles
  • Barricades commercial parking lots
  • Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written).
  • Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.).
  • Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors
  • Ensure OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
