Asphalt Plant Operator - Northeast Ohio
About The Position
Kokosing Materials, Inc. (KMI) is hiring an Asphalt Plant Operator to safely operate and maintain an asphalt plant and construction equipment, order supplies, and manage a plant crew. The position is described as a second-shift schedule, with willingness to work day or night shifts, including weekends, as needed. The operator will travel to surrounding plants in Northeast Ohio when needed to cover time-off requests, night shifts, and project demands. The role includes preventive maintenance, equipment and site inspections, production and inventory monitoring, plant calibration, material-blend adjustments in coordination with quality control personnel, employee supervision and training, documentation, housekeeping, and customer relations. Requirements
- Knowledge of an asphalt plant.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Initiative and willingness to perform and assist with other responsibilities as requested to complete the job.
- Willingness to work day or night shifts, including weekends.
- Willingness to travel.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate and maintain the asphalt plant and construction equipment.
- Perform walk-around and site inspections of equipment to identify and correct unsafe conditions.
- Perform preventive maintenance and ensure equipment is maintained and serviced as needed.
- Communicate with quality control personnel and adjust material blends as needed.
- Monitor mix-material inventory and order materials as needed.
- Monitor production levels and adjust production as needed.
- Properly calibrate the plant.
- Supervise plant employees and train employees when designated.
- Monitor the plant site to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow.
- Troubleshoot and discuss production problems with co-workers and supervisors.
- Complete plant reports and other documentation accurately.
- Clean the control house and yard facility daily.
- Maintain ongoing good customer relations.
- Travel to surrounding Northeast Ohio plants as needed to cover time off, night shifts, and project demands.
