About The Position

Silver Hill Asphalt of H&K Group, Inc., is seeking an experienced Plant Operator to support production at its asphalt plants. The role involves operating plant machinery, learning plant functions and operations, completing assigned tasks, following safety policies, and working as part of the site team. Operators cross-train across plant jobs and substitute when needed. A CDL license is not required.

Silver Hill Quarry and Silver Hill Asphalt have produced construction aggregate and asphalt materials since 1986, supplying regions of Pennsylvania from Narvon. H&K Group provides heavy civil contracting and construction materials solutions and offers employees training, instruction, and supervisory support to help them develop within the company. Final pay is determined by company leadership based on the scope of work and the candidate’s education, experience, skills, past performance, leadership, and influence. Employment is subject to pre-employment drug testing and a pre-employment physical.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of Plant Operator experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent, such as a GED, from an accredited educational institution, or related experience and/or training; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to fit test for and use appropriate personal protective equipment as needed.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job, including movement and lifting.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to perform the listed physical activities, including standing and walking regularly; using hands, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, or hearing frequently; and sitting occasionally.
• Specific vision needs include depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in a quarry, heavy civil construction, or another outdoor industrial setting.
• MSHA or other relevant safety certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform all work according to MSHA and H&K safety policies.
• Operate machinery within the asphalt plant.
• Proactively learn plant functions and operations.
• Obtain the knowledge needed to complete assigned tasks.
• Take direction from and work in a team with all other site personnel.
• Cross-train to learn all plant jobs and substitute when necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
