About The Position
This is an independent contractor position for an American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter. The role requires fluency in both English and ASL and involves facilitating interpretation in various settings including Medical, Business, and Education. Experience with both face-to-face and remote interpreting is necessary. The position also emphasizes a strong passion for interpreting and customer service, adherence to professional codes of conduct, and familiarity with HIPAA and Cultural Sensitivity trainings.
Requirements
- Be fluent in both English and ASL
- Be RID Certified, in process, or EIPA, NIC, NAD CI, CT or equivalent
- Be prepared to have Livescan and Background Checks conducted
- Be familiar with HIPPA and Cultural Sensitivity trainings
- Adhere to CHIA Professional Code of Conduct standards

- Simultaneous interpretation skills
Responsibilities
- Facilitate interpretation in a variety of subjects: in Medical, Business, and Education Settings
- Be comfortable with the consecutive interpretation process (Simultaneous a plus)
- Be experienced with both face to face and remote interpreting.
