About The Position

BAYADA Home Health Care is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) who can communicate using American Sign Language to work with a specific client in Morganton, North Carolina, and the surrounding area. DSPs support individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities one-on-one in home and community settings, serving as companions and mentors and helping clients reach their full potential. The position offers afternoon hours, flexible scheduling, weekly pay, and starting pay of $15 per hour. Applicants must be located in North Carolina.

Requirements

• One year of experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities; training is available through the apprentice program for applicants without this experience.
• Ability to communicate using American Sign Language.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be located in North Carolina.

Nice To Haves

• Fluency in American Sign Language is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care assistance with daily hygiene, including bathing and dressing.
• Accompany clients on errands and appointments.
• Spend time with clients doing their favorite hobbies and activities.
• Assist with everyday tasks such as meal preparation.
• Participate in community integration activities.
• Support clients as a companion and mentor in home and community settings.
