About The Position

Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) is a non-profit corporation established in 1963, guided by a student board and managed by professional staff. ASI is part of the Cal Poly Pomona Division of Student Affairs and serves over 27,000 students by providing engagement opportunities, employment, and various programs and services including recreation, wellness, student union activities, student government, and childcare. ASI also provides operational support in human resources, finance, IT, facilities management, and marketing. Requirements

  • American Red Cross First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Administering Emergency Oxygen certification (must be obtained within 30 days of hire, training provided by ASI).

  • Ability to successfully pass a background screening.
  • Must be a Cal Poly Pomona student eligible to work in the US.
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6.0 units (undergraduate) or 4.0 units (graduate) during the regular term (exceptions for summer and graduation applicants).
  • Minimum overall and Cal Poly Pomona GPA of 2.0 and be in good academic standing.
  • Individuals enrolled only in Extended University are not eligible for hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide frontline support services including general customer service and equipment setup/breakdown for events in the Bronco Student Center, Bronco Recreation and Intramural Complex, and designated outdoor spaces.
  • Serve as the primary onsite contact for events, providing day-of support and communicating/enforcing event policies and operating procedures.
  • Ensure client event expectations are met in a positive manner and respond to client and attendee inquiries with a high level of customer service.
  • Refresh rooms between events, including vacuuming, wiping furniture, and emptying trash.
  • Provide event support during events, such as check-in, line management, and signage.
  • Retrieve, maintain, and organize all event equipment, including tables, chairs, projectors, and cables.
  • Assist with audio/visual setup and breakdown, including projectors, webcams, and power cables.
  • Plan daily work based on information from event operation reports.
  • Navigate computerized reservation systems like 25live, Social Tables, and 7 Point Ops.
  • Enforce rules and safety regulations for events using ASI facilities.
  • Provide excellent communication during emergency situations until emergency medical services arrive.
  • Collaborate with Conference and Events and Operations teams for optimal logistical event support.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
  • Report basic facility maintenance and custodial needs for event spaces.
  • Complete appropriate activity reports.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
