About The Position

The Operating Room Nurse provides quality care to surgical patients through monitoring, assessment, intervention, and medication administration in the Ambulatory Surgery Center in Flowood. The nurse collaborates with coworkers to achieve departmental goals and objectives in accordance with established policies.

Requirements

• Active Registered Nursing license and authorization to work in Mississippi.
• General clinical competency in acute patient care.
• Aptitude for maintaining the pace of abbreviated patient encounters.
• Current BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

• Nursing experience in a surgical setting.
• ACLS certification.
• PALS certification.

Responsibilities

• Check equipment such as the cautery machine, suction machine, OR light, and OR table for proper functioning.
• Help the scrub nurse set up the theater.
• Assist anesthesia.
• Prepare surgical instruments, tools, and materials needed by the surgical team during operations.
• Assist surgeons during surgery as needed.
• Apply knowledge of asepsis, infection control, and anesthesia.
• Use excellent communication skills.
