About The Position

Muse Paintbar is a guided painting experience with 26 studios across the East Coast. We offer a unique social painting experience where customers can enjoy a bar and kitchen while creating their own artwork. We are not a gallery or a traditional classroom, but rather a fun night out that involves painting. The Art Instructor is the central figure, leading the painting sessions, hosting the party, and ensuring smooth operations.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of hands-on painting experience, with a preference for acrylics.
  • Comfortable using a microphone and leading a group of people.
  • Proficiency in acrylics.
  • Ability to make people laugh and build their confidence in creating art.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Punctuality.
  • A genuine service instinct.
  • Comfortable with technology used in sessions, including microphones, printers, and sound systems.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% weekly.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and evenings.
  • Must be 21 or older.
  • Standing for long stretches.
  • Stepping onto and off of elevated surfaces frequently.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, moving, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to move through the studio quickly and safely, including tight spaces and raised surfaces like the stage.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with music and large groups.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a related art field.
  • Experience teaching or leading a group.
  • Prior experience in a customer-facing role.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare Muse signature paintings according to guidelines and display the approved master above the stage before each session.
  • Break down the painting into easy-to-follow steps using provided templates.
  • Lead painting sessions from start to finish, keeping the audience engaged and on schedule.
  • Provide step-by-step guidance during painting sessions, ensuring audience engagement and time management.
  • Print attendee lists, assign group seating, and set up palettes before guests arrive.
  • Greet guests, guide them to their seats, and distribute aprons.
  • Inform guests about the menu and take food and drink orders at the bar and tableside.
  • Check in with painters throughout the session and take additional orders.
  • Capture photos during the session for social media.
  • Clean up and break down the studio after each session to prepare for the next event.
  • When assigned as Cook, prepare and plate food orders with attention to presentation and safety.
  • Follow the kitchen checklist, maintain a clean workspace, and ensure equipment and safety standards are met.
  • Share responsibilities and cover where needed as part of a cross-trained team to prioritize the guest experience.
