The Connecticut Technical Eduaction and Career System ( CTECS ) is hiring for an Art Instructor (THS Instructor - Professional) to join our professional education team at AI Prince Technical High School. To be considered for this position, Art Instructors must hold a 042 Art, PK-12 endorsement. Through exemplary trade and academic programming, CTECS prepares trade-bound students to meet the skilled workforce needs in Connecticut. This role involves educating students in academic and trade coursework. The instructor will engage in intentional planning, develop mutual respect and rapport with students, effectively communicate with students, and reflect on teaching practices. Responsibilities include planning and preparing lessons, managing the classroom environment, delivering instruction, and fulfilling professional responsibilities such as maintaining records and collaborating with colleagues.

Requirements

• Hold a 042 Art, PK-12 endorsement.
• Possess at time of appointment a valid certificate issued by the Connecticut State Board of Education in accordance with the Certification Regulations Concerning State Educator Certificates, Permits and Authorizations, with a secondary school endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Engage in intentional planning to prepare lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, use appropriate techniques, and serve the needs of all learners in the classroom through differentiation.
• Knowledge of Art media and content and pedagogy of all high school Art curricula.
• Understand the varied needs of each student.
• Work collaboratively with guidance personnel and other support service educators to assist students with special programming; ensure IEP and 504 accommodations/modifications are implemented.
• Set instructional goals and outcomes.
• Knowledge and use of varied instructional practices and resources.
• Effectively design instructional learning opportunities.
• Effectively design assessments.
• Develop mutual respect and rapport with students.
