About The Position

The State of Connecticut, Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) is recruiting a THS Math Instructor to join our team at W.F. Kaynor Technical High School located in Waterbury, CT. This role involves educating students in academic and trade coursework, preparing trade-bound students to meet skilled workforce needs. The CTECS Mathematics Department provides a standards-based curriculum designed to support diverse student goals, address learning gaps, and promote academic growth through various pathways (Graduation and Career, College-Preparatory, and Honors) to meet graduation requirements and post-secondary aspirations.

Requirements

• Possess an active State of Connecticut teaching certificate in one of the following areas: 029 Mathematics, 4-12 endorsement OR be Eligible for a State of Connecticut teaching certificate in subject area (includes ARC candidates).
• Possess at time of appointment a valid certificate issued by the Connecticut State Board of Education in accordance with the Certification Regulations Concerning State Educator Certificates, Permits and Authorizations, with a secondary school endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Engage in intentional planning to prepare lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, use appropriate techniques, and serve the needs of all learners in the classroom through differentiation.
• Understand the varied needs of each student.
• Work collaboratively with guidance personnel and other support service educators to assist students with special programming; ensure IEP and 504 accommodations/modifications are implemented.
• Set instructional goals and outcomes.
• Knowledge and use of varied instructional practices and resources.
