Art Center Studio Tech- Ceramics (Part-time/Seasonal)
About The Position
The Art Center Studio Tech- Ceramics is a part-time, seasonal position located at the Eden Prairie Art Center. This role is responsible for supporting the ceramics studio operations, including kiln firing, clay recycling, glazing, and maintaining studio equipment. The position requires approximately 15-20 hours per week, primarily during evenings and weekends, and runs from August 2026 to October 2026. The Studio Tech collaborates with the Recreation Specialist—Arts & Events, the Studio Tech Lead, and Art Center instructors to ensure smooth studio operations and excellent customer service.
Requirements
- Current enrollment in art degree or related subject and at least one year of ceramics experience required, OR at least two years of ceramics studio tech experience required.
- Previous ceramics or glass studio experience in an art or educational setting required.
- Must be able to frequently lift/carry/pull up to 35 lbs.; occasionally lift/carry/pull 35–75 lbs.
- Candidates must successfully complete and pass the City’s evaluation of the pre-employment process prior to their first day of employment.

Nice To Haves
- B.A. or B.F.A. degree in art or related subject with study in ceramics preferred.
- Studio Tech experience preferred, including some or all the following; loading/unloading and maintaining Skutt kilns, experience in Cone 6 Oxidation firing, reclaim experience, glass kiln firing experience.
Responsibilities
- Loading and unloading kilns
- Recycling clay
- Mixing glazes and slips
- Glazing student work
- Packaging work for pick-up
- Providing excellent customer service to all Art Center patrons
- Ensuring timely turnaround for project pick-up
- Keeping the studio clean, organized, and in safe working order
- Maintaining studio equipment, including kilns, wheels, slab rollers, and other tools
Benefits
- Part Time (Part-time/Temporary/Seasonal Status)
- $17.00 - $19.00 per hour (depending on qualifications)
