About The Position

MercyOne North Iowa Cancer Center is seeking an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) for a full-time position in a busy outpatient Hematology Oncology practice in Mason City, Iowa. The role involves working a 4.5-day work-week within a beautiful, patient-friendly, and comprehensive Cancer Center that underwent a $10 million expansion/renovation in 2021. The center features 24 infusion chairs and 20 exam rooms. The successful candidate will join a collegial team of 3 Hematology Oncologists, 2 Radiation Oncologists, and 3 Advanced Practice Providers. The practice emphasizes a reasonable patient load to support an excellent work-life balance and offers survivorship and genetics programs. There is no call requirement, as a 24/7 Hospitalist team handles most calls and inpatient responsibilities. The center also hosts weekly tumor boards with on-site specialists and provides extensive support staff including a dietitian, nurse navigators, physical therapist, clinical pharmacist, financial counselor, and tumor registrars. The Cancer Center is located adjacent to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center, a 342-bed regional referral teaching hospital, which is a Top 100 Hospital nationally and provides easy access to numerous specialists and services. MercyOne North Iowa is a regional health system covering 14 counties with over 300 employed providers, 7 critical access hospitals, and 42 clinics, serving approximately 300,000 people.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Masters of Nursing Program or CAHEA approved Physician Assistant training program
  • Successful completion of certification
  • Current licensure in the state of Iowa as an Advanced Practice Nurse or as a Physician Assistant
  • Iowa Controlled Substance Certificate
  • Federal DEA Certificate
  • Must be able to obtain MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center staff privileges
  • Above average communication skills
  • Ability to work with a team
  • Successful completion of references, background check, pre-employment physical and drug screen

Responsibilities

  • Performing bone marrow biopsies & aspirate procedures
