About The Position

Vista Innovative Solutions (VIS), a government consulting and contracting firm supporting missions worldwide, is seeking an Army Vantage Data Engineer. Army Vantage is a data-driven command and control platform built on Palantir Foundry for the U.S. Army. It connects more than 30,000 datasets across hundreds of disconnected legacy systems to provide a single operational view. The platform supports real-time decision-making on combat readiness, supply chain logistics, finance, and personnel management.

The role supports the Army Human Resource Command by building and maintaining data pipelines, analytics and AI models, and low-code operational applications on Army Vantage. The engineer will work with Army commanders and staff to translate requirements into technical and AI-driven solutions, while applying Army and DoD governance, security, access-control, and responsible AI standards.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in data engineering, software development, or analytics, including building ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience with PySpark or similar distributed data processing.
• Experience applying AI/ML to operational data and putting models into production; examples include predictive modeling, forecasting, NLP, or LLM-enabled workflows.
• Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• CompTIA Security+ certification.
• Active Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

• Hands-on experience with Palantir Foundry, including Pipeline Builder, Code Repositories, Ontology Manager, Workshop, or Slate, and/or AIP.
• Experience in an Army, DoD, or federal data environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Palantir Foundry data pipelines, including ingestion, transformation, and validation of data from multiple Army source systems and legacy platforms.
• Develop analytics and AI/ML models and ontology objects that provide users with a consistent, trusted view of operational data.
• Embed models in low-code applications such as Workshop and Slate, and AI-enabled workflows such as Palantir AIP, to deliver real-time operational insights.
• Write and optimize transforms using PySpark, Python, and SQL, including feature engineering and data preparation for model training.
• Gather requirements from Army commanders and staff and translate them into technical and AI-driven solutions.
• Monitor pipeline and model health, troubleshoot failures, and track model performance, accuracy, and drift.
• Apply data governance, security, access-control, and responsible AI standards in accordance with Army and DoD policy.
• Use Agile Framework to manage tasks and document solutions for the Vantage developer community.
