About The Position

Marksman Security is hiring professional, people-oriented Armed Security Patrol Officers for its Public Safety Team in the Myrtle Beach area. Officers help maintain a secure and welcoming environment for guests, tenants, and staff across retail, dining, and entertainment areas. The role involves regular foot and vehicle patrols, public assistance, responding to incidents, collaborating with surveillance staff, documenting activity, and supporting safety and security across the property.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 21 years of age.
• SLED security license.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to obtain and maintain any required state or local security license or certification.
• Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to stand, walk, or patrol for extended periods and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Availability to work weekends and holidays.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, motor vehicle record check, and criminal background check.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to meet the physical essential functions of the job, including potentially lifting 50+ pounds, completing foot patrols, walking up and down stairs, and working in inclement weather.
• No face or neck tattoos.
• Professional presence and demeanor.

Nice To Haves

• At least 6 months of experience in security, law enforcement, or a customer-facing role.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular foot and vehicle patrols throughout retail stores, restaurants, parking lots, entertainment zones, and pedestrian walkways.
• Assist guests courteously by offering directions, answering questions, and maintaining a visible, approachable presence.
• Respond professionally to disturbances, emergencies, medical situations, and suspicious activity; take appropriate action and coordinate with local authorities or emergency services as needed.
• Collaborate with the surveillance team to monitor CCTV systems and report irregular activity or safety concerns.
• Maintain detailed incident and activity reports, including patrol logs, observed hazards, and guest interactions.
• Assist with pedestrian and vehicle traffic during peak hours, events, and special promotions.
• Work with retail tenants to deter theft or fraud and support store managers with internal investigations when necessary.
• Check doors, windows, lighting, and fire safety equipment to ensure facilities are secure and operational.
• Promote awareness of property rules, safety protocols, and emergency procedures among guests and staff.
• Use communication and conflict-resolution skills to manage disputes or difficult situations involving guests, vendors, or staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
