About The Position

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is hiring an Armed Security Officer for its Ft. Thomas Security Team. The role provides a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff while emphasizing professional service and customer relations. It requires working knowledge and understanding of the use of deadly physical force, and involves close collaboration with staff, local law enforcement, and other government agencies. The officer is expected to demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in every encounter, regardless of cultural background. This is a regular, full-time position scheduled for 40 hours per week on the first shift. The position is non-exempt.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED with applicable criminal justice experience, or a bachelor’s degree.
Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured by the hospital’s insurance carrier.
Successful completion of an accredited police academy firearms course, a state-approved concealed-carry firearms course, an approved firearms training program, or related military firearms training.
Successful completion of a psychological evaluation.
Successful completion of weapons-retention training.
At least one of the following: six months of SEH Security Officer 1 experience; current sworn law enforcement officer status; or honorable discharge from the Armed Forces.
Working knowledge and understanding of the use of deadly physical force.
Ability to relate to customers and communicate clearly in a courteous, professional manner.

Responsibilities

Patrol SEH property, protect and safeguard people on the property, direct visitors, patients, and employees to appropriate locations, and intervene to prevent and control disturbances.
Provide way-finding and general assistance to patients and visitors during routine security duties.
Communicate clearly and courteously, maintain professional customer relations, and use appropriate de-escalation techniques in a variety of situations.
Monitor activity through closed-circuit television and monitor alarm systems that terminate within Security.
Handle radio and telephone communications effectively.
Complete case reports, maintenance logs, daily data entry, and other necessary documentation professionally.
Review roll call, emails, and other pertinent information daily.
Use photographic documentation to supplement written reports when appropriate.
Successfully complete all mandatory departmental training and complete and maintain additional firearms-related training.
Perform other duties as assigned.
