About The Position

Security Engineers is hiring a part-time Armed Flex Security Officer for a 2nd-shift assignment. Officers help maintain a safe environment by monitoring access, enforcing site policies, assisting staff and visitors, and providing a visible, vigilant presence. They respond to emergencies, maintain detailed activity and incident logs, and must meet applicable licensing, training, and fitness standards. The role requires professionalism, situational awareness, and flexibility of scheduling. The listed schedule varies by day and is 1 PM to 9 PM; weekend availability may be needed. Employment is contingent on satisfactory completion of a post-offer background investigation and drug screen. A criminal background check may also be required by law for this safety-sensitive licensed security position. Officers must hold or obtain a valid Alabama Security Regulatory Board license, pass armed training, possess a valid pistol permit, complete a psychological assessment and medical exam, and pass an annual physical fitness assessment. Current OC certification is required or must be obtained before assignment; carrying OC is mandatory for this assignment. The position requires at least four years of unarmed security experience and a high school diploma or equivalent. Preferred qualifications include at least three years of military, law enforcement, or armed security experience, along with prior certified law enforcement or military experience. Requirements

Hold or obtain a valid Alabama Security Regulatory Board (ASRB) license.
Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass armed training and possess a valid pistol permit.
Pass a background investigation and drug screen; complete a psychological assessment.
Pass an annual physical fitness assessment based on Navy standards.
Pass a medical exam testing vision and hearing; color distinction is required.
Possess current OC certification or obtain it before being assigned a post; OC carry is mandatory for this assignment.
At least four years of unarmed security experience.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to function in a fast-paced and potentially stressful work environment.
Ability to work weekends (Saturday and Sunday) if needed.
Strong situational awareness and curiosity.
Basic computer experience and ability to use a tablet for security reports.
Strong physical fitness and ability to stand or walk for extended periods, stand for at least one hour without support or a break, and sit for at least one hour without a break.
Flexibility of scheduling.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Microsoft Office Productivity Suite.
At least three years of military, law enforcement, or armed security experience.
Prior certified law enforcement officer experience.
Prior military experience.
Ability to obtain any and all required security certifications or licenses.

Responsibilities

Monitor access points and verify identification and credentials of people entering or exiting the premises.
Enforce security procedures outlined in Security Post Instructions.
Maintain a clean, pressed uniform and professional appearance.
Ensure compliance with Security Engineers and client policies, including policies concerning smoking, loitering, and parking violations.
Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and other incidents using established procedures.
Maintain accurate logs of activities, incidents, and observations for reporting and analysis.
Assist visitors and employees, provide customer service, and address their concerns.
Remain calm, solve problems, and act effectively in critical situations.
Maintain awareness of surroundings and use a proactive, vigilant presence to deter incidents.
