About The Position

Valmet is seeking a driven and technically skilled Area Sales Manager to lead and grow sales efforts for Valmet Flow Control solutions, including channel-sales and support, projects, and services. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in valves, instrumentation, or automation, and a passion for building lasting customer relationships. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and managing technical sales activities (capital, project, and services) for valves and automation within a specified geography, product line, and market segment to achieve established sales targets. The territory for this role includes Kentucky, Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, and Indiana.

Requirements

  • Technical acumen for valves, instrumentation, or automation systems.
  • Proven experience as a technical account manager or similar role.
  • 3+ Years of relevant experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with aptitude in building relationships with professionals of all organizational levels.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to travel up to 40%.

Responsibilities

  • Support and grow the sales of Valmet Flow Control products in the assigned territory, acting as both a technical and sales asset leader.
  • Focus on channel management, coordinating and participating in area sales activities for sales support and business development of Valmet Flow Control products and services.
  • Ensure that end customer coverage is balanced and managed among channel partners.
  • Support an annual sales forecast by product mix and achieve quota with a balance across brands.
  • Develop and execute a yearly strategic sales/marketing plan supported by individual goals and sales objectives.
  • Maintain ongoing personal relationships with distributors and common customers through a physical presence in the assigned territory.
  • Ensure area account penetration and coverage are balanced, executing personal travel as backed by planning, goals, and objectives.
  • Work and travel within a given T&E expense budget.
  • Conduct ongoing market area analysis related to industry changes, competition, and pricing, communicating findings to sales and product management.
  • Ensure adherence to the company’s sales, marketing, and service policies related to the sale of goods and services through distribution.
  • Participate in industry organizations and networking opportunities with local valve and instrumentation trade groups.
