The Area Manager - Maintenance is responsible for implementing the business plan for their area of responsibility by communicating goals, managing staffing and scheduling, assigning duties, and coordinating workloads to achieve facility goals in production, quality, and safety. This role involves monitoring and managing the productivity of the area by preparing and analyzing business reports, maintaining quality and safety standards through associate training and compliance monitoring, and identifying and resolving associate, customer, and supplier concerns. The Area Manager also supervises and develops associates and leaders by assigning duties, monitoring performance, providing feedback, identifying training needs, and participating in hiring, promotion, coaching, teaching, and evaluation processes. A key part of the role is managing the maintenance department's daily operations, ensuring department performance related to maintaining warehouse equipment (material handling, pneumatic systems, electrical systems, air compressors, ammonia refrigeration, general building repairs), and monitoring compliance with state and federal regulations (OSHA, Hazardous Waste, NFPA, Storm Water, DOT). The position also involves managing financial aspects, including monitoring expenses and capital expenditures against budget, and tracking asset utilization.
