This role is responsible for managing the daily operations of the maintenance department, ensuring the upkeep of warehouse equipment such as material handling equipment, pneumatic systems, electrical systems, air compressors, ammonia refrigeration equipment, and general building repairs. The position also involves monitoring and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, including OSHA, Hazardous Waste, NFPA, Storm Water, and DOT. The Area Manager will implement the business plan for their area of responsibility, manage staffing and scheduling, assign duties, and coordinate workloads to achieve facility goals in production, quality, and safety. They will also monitor and manage productivity, maintain quality and safety standards through associate training and compliance monitoring, and address concerns from associates, customers, and suppliers. A key part of the role involves supervising and developing associates and leaders by assigning duties, monitoring performance, providing feedback, identifying training needs, and participating in hiring, promotion, coaching, teaching, and evaluation processes. The position also manages financial aspects as assigned, including monitoring expenses and capital expenditures against budget, and monitoring asset utilization. The role emphasizes building high-performing teams, fostering a culture of belonging, attracting and retaining talent, and acting with integrity, ethics, and compliance. Associates are expected to put the customer first, make data-driven decisions, and strive for continuous improvement by adopting new technologies and supporting change.
