About The Position

Raines Co. is seeking a powerhouse Area Director of Sales and Marketing to oversee a portfolio of hotels. This role involves driving performance, championing guest experiences, and leading marketing and revenue strategies in a fast-paced environment. Raines Co., established in 1988, is a fully integrated development, management, and investment company that operates leading hotel brands and boutique hotels. They maintain a family-oriented culture focused on building relationships with associates, partners, and communities.

Requirements

  • Two years’ experience as a Director of Sales and Marketing or Senior Sales Manager
  • Proven track record of driving revenue and exceeding goals
  • Experience with social media and marketing
  • Ability to lead sales, revenue, and marketing teams
  • Knowledge of competitive market trends and pricing strategies
  • Experience with various hotel types including full service, lifestyle, and resorts
  • Proficient in Delphi FDC, Microsoft 365, and brand-specific applications
  • Up to 100% travel requirement
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Ability to travel frequently
  • Ability to occasionally fill in as interim Director of Sales with minimal notice

Responsibilities

  • Actively sell, conduct site visits, and provide exceptional service to internal and external guests.
  • Ensure hotel staff is knowledgeable about all sales programs and key accounts.
  • Work in conjunction with the Regional Director of Sales and Marketing.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Raines Co. standards.
  • Communicate concerns and provide assistance to promote a positive and healthy work environment.
  • Produce sales department reports on a timely basis and analyze short-term fluctuations and direct selling activities to maximize revenues.
  • Utilize various tools and resources to carry out sales and marketing initiatives to drive overall revenues of the hotel to meet budgeted goals.
  • Handle problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems.
  • Work well in stressful, high-pressure situations, including handling guest complaints and disputes.
  • Assimilate complex information from various sources and adjust to meet needs.
  • Listen to, understand, and clarify concerns and issues raised by team members and guests.
  • Coordinate with General Managers to provide proper training for sales team members.
  • Review weekly sales calendars with team members to ensure pacing to meet monthly sales expectations.
  • Oversee the completion of accurate and complete monthly Sales Dashboard month-end reports.
  • Ensure sales team members are pacing to complete their monthly required HP sales activities.
  • Maintain and promote a teamwork environment with effective and clear communication.
  • Ensure best client service is made available through communication, cross-training, and appropriate office coverage.
  • Work with sales managers to ensure understanding and effective implementation of sales strategy.
  • Work with the management team to create and implement a sales plan (e.g., 30-60-90-day plan).
  • Follow and track company cross-sell procedures.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of promotions, both internal and external.
  • Update and own the sales strategy & sales plan with the General Manager(s).
  • Provide positive and aggressive leadership to ensure maximum revenue potential.
  • Use company-wide tools, systems, and applications without exception.
  • Lead on-property sales functions to build long-term, value-based customer relationships.
  • Participate in sales calls with members of the sales team to acquire new business.
  • Maintain an organized and accurate filing system on all accounts.
  • Keep immediate supervisor informed of all matters requiring their attention.
  • Correspond with prospects and clients, answering questions about venue options, rates, room types, packages, or promotions.
  • Recruit, retain, train, and discipline sales team members as required.
