The Area Director of Radiology and Radiopharmaceutical Infusion Therapy and Special Projects is responsible for strategic leadership, operational management, and clinical quality oversight of radiology and imaging services across multiple locations within a defined geographic territory, as well as radiopharmaceutical infusion therapy. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and compliant imaging services while aligning departmental operations with organizational goals, regulatory standards, and patient care priorities. The Area Director will collaborate with physicians, administrators, technologists, and support staff to optimize imaging operations, improve patient access, implement new technologies, and drive financial performance. This position is also responsible for the navigation program, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and program growth and development of FCS RPT Services, requiring independent interaction with all levels of leadership across the organization. As a recognized leader, the Director will provide coaching, mentorship, and training to Directors and Managers within the organization to help broaden the utilization of RPT and the impact of project management best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Radiologic Sciences or health related field
  • 5-7 years of imaging and/or radiation oncology leadership experience overseeing multiple modalities including but not limited to CT, PET, MRI, Ultrasound, X-Ray, and Mammography and RPT
  • Strong understanding and application of Project Management processes and methodologies
  • Ability to influence leaders and cross functional peers
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to develop and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to track project performance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, professional writing, presentation, and reporting skills
  • Experience in executive communication, relationship building and decision making
  • Expert level proficiency using computer software and applications, including advance features of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, MS Project, and SharePoint to share, retrieve, research, and present business information
  • Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) effectively with stakeholders and senior business leadership of departments and customers participating in this project
  • Ability to organize and work effectively with project teams made up of internal staff and/or external parties (agents, vendors, etc.)
  • Regularly conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner
  • Comply with all labor laws, workplace policy and workplace practices
  • Bring issues of any forms of workplace harassment, discrimination or other potential improprieties to the attention of their management or the human resources department
  • Clear results of a thorough background screening

Responsibilities

  • Direct day-to-day radiology operations across all sites and modalities
  • Optimize scheduling, workflow, staffing models, and utilization to support access, throughput, and turnaround times
  • Standardize policies, procedures, and operational practices across locations
  • Manage vendor relationships, mobile unit logistics, and interdepartmental coordination (clinics, IT, transport)
  • Develop and lead the strategic direction of Radiopharmaceutical Infusion Therapy within FCS
  • Supervise the clinical team to assure the provision of effective, high quality patient care through the management of RPT services
  • Manage RPT Navigation program for new, existing and potential patients
  • Responsible for the direction of RPT services including expansion, addition of new therapies and utilization growth
  • Ensure projects are proceeding according to timelines, meeting targets and expectations, and adhering to established operating parameters
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and accreditation requirements
  • Maintain quality assurance, quality control, and radiation safety programs
  • Oversee accreditation, inspections, licensure, and regulatory documentation
  • Ensure facilities and equipment are safe, maintained, and fully operational
  • Manage departmental budgets, expenses, supplies, and contracts
  • Monitor financial performance, productivity, utilization, and revenue cycle metrics
  • Approve invoices, oversee payroll/timekeeping, and support cost control initiatives
  • Partner with radiologists, medical leadership, and clinic teams to support service quality and access
  • Serve as liaison between radiology, clinical operations, and leadership
  • Communicate operational impacts including cancellations, volume gaps, and scheduling issues
  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise radiology staff and technologists
  • Set performance expectations and address performance or disciplinary issues
  • Ensure staff licensure, training, and coverage across all sites
  • Foster a collaborative, compliant, patient-centered work environment
  • Advise process teams representing stakeholder needs regarding cross-functional considerations, workflow integration and coordination, and optimization of best practices
