The Area Director - Facilities Operations is responsible for directing and overseeing the safe and compliant planning, operation, repair, maintenance, and testing of various facility systems including heating/cooling, power plant, electrical, emergency power, fire protection, plumbing, grounds, and carpentry within assigned area/market sites. This role involves managing departmental operating expense budgets, developing capital infrastructure budgets (short-term and long-term), and ensuring approved capital projects stay within budget. The Director collaborates with Planning, Design, and Construction to meet project conditions and standards, and oversees contractors through field observation and progress meetings. They also review design modifications, plan for future facility needs, research new products and regulations, and manage an accurate computer maintenance management system (CMMS) with an effective preventive maintenance program. Additionally, this role partners with the Energy Management Team on hospital energy plans, sustainability programs, utility tracking, and grant funding. Continuous improvement, innovation, regulatory compliance, and life safety matters are key responsibilities. The Director provides oversight of safety, environment of care, and emergency preparedness programs, and is responsible for the master planning of utility infrastructure. Human resources responsibilities include staff interviewing, selection, development, performance evaluations, and employee relations. The role requires adherence to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and ensuring compliance with applicable policies, regulations, and laws. Leadership in developing a facilities training program and establishing succession plans for leaders and key teammates is also expected. The Director designs and directs work, selects, coaches, and develops teams, sets objectives, and manages talent through performance management and development.
