About The Position

The Arborist Climber Trainee is an entry-level position on a tree care crew serving commercial and residential properties. The trainee gains practical field experience in scientific tree and shrub care through hands-on, on-the-job training while working alongside arborists. The role involves learning to perform arboriculture work safely, operating and maintaining equipment, and assisting crew members on the ground and aloft. Work is outdoors year-round and in all weather conditions.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

• Prior tree care, landscaping, forestry, turf care, or horticulture experience.
• A degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Turfgrass, Environmental Science, Plant Science, Outdoor Recreation, Agriculture, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Learn to safely perform arboriculture tasks, including tree climbing, pruning, rigging, cabling and bracing, hazardous tree removal, and tree identification.
• Properly maintain and operate hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Implement work zone safety procedures.
• Assist Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders on the ground and aloft.
• Assist with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties.
• Learn, understand, and adhere to safety rules and company safety policies.
