About The Position
The Arborist Climber Trainee is an entry-level role on a tree care crew, working alongside arborists on commercial and residential properties. The position provides practical field experience and hands-on, on-the-job training in scientific tree and shrub care and arboriculture. The trainee learns to perform work safely, maintain and operate equipment, follow work-zone and company safety procedures, and assist Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders on the ground and aloft. The role involves working outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.
Requirements

- Valid driver's license.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work on a multidisciplinary team.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in tree care, landscaping, forestry, turf care, or horticulture; preferred but not required.
- Degree in arboriculture, forestry, horticulture, turfgrass, environmental science, plant science, outdoor recreation, agriculture, or a related field; preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Learn to safely perform arboriculture tasks through on-the-job training, including tree climbing, pruning, rigging, cabling and bracing, hazardous tree removal, and tree identification.
- Properly maintain and operate hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
- Implement work zone safety procedures.
- Assist Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders on the ground and aloft.
- Assist with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties.
- Learn, understand, and follow all safety rules and company safety policies.
