About The Position

The Arborist Climber Trainee is an entry-level role on a tree care crew, working alongside arborists to provide scientific tree and shrub care on commercial and residential properties. The position offers practical field experience and hands-on, on-the-job training in arboriculture. The trainee learns to perform tree care safely, maintain and operate equipment, assist crew members on the ground and aloft, and follow company safety policies. Work takes place outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license.
• Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work on a multidisciplinary team.

Nice To Haves

• Prior tree care, landscaping, forestry, turf care, or horticulture experience.
• A degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Turfgrass, Environmental Science, Plant Science, Outdoor Recreation, Agriculture, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Learn to safely perform arboriculture tasks through on-the-job training, including tree climbing, pruning, rigging, cabling and bracing, hazardous tree removal, and tree identification.
• Properly maintain and operate hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Implement work zone safety procedures.
• Assist Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders on the ground and aloft.
• Assist with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties.
• Learn, understand, and adhere to safety rules and company safety policies.
