About The Position

As an Arboriculture Intern with Bartlett Tree Experts, you will work alongside a team of arborists and gain practical field experience in scientific tree and shrub care on commercial and residential properties. The internship offers hands-on training to help develop a career in arboriculture. Summer internships last 8–12 weeks and are 40 hours per week, generally starting in May, with start and end dates flexible based on availability.

The role provides opportunities to learn scientific tree and shrub care, perform arboriculture tasks, operate and maintain equipment, and understand integrated pest management programs. Interns also participate in safety and training meetings and develop professional relationships.

Bartlett Tree Experts is a scientific tree and shrub care company with over 100 years of history and more than 140 offices in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, and Ireland. Its services include pruning, insect and disease management, soil care and fertilization, and cabling and bracing.

Requirements

• Passion for nature, the environment, and the outdoors.
• Currently pursuing a degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Turfgrass, Horticulture, Environmental Science, Plant Science, Outdoor Recreation, Agriculture, or a related field.
• Interest in working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work on a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Learn and safely perform arboriculture tasks, including pruning, rigging, cabling and bracing, root collar excavations, and removals.
• Properly maintain and operate hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Learn integrated pest management programs, including property inspections, tree identification, insect and disease identification and management, and soil sampling.
• Perform record-keeping and report writing and participate in client relations.
• Participate in safety and training meetings.
• Develop professional relationships and friendships.
