About The Position

As an Arboriculture Intern with Bartlett Tree Experts, you will work alongside a team of arborists and gain practical field experience in scientific tree and shrub care on commercial and residential properties. The internship provides hands-on training and an opportunity to explore different areas of arboriculture. Summer internships last 8–12 weeks and are scheduled for 40 hours per week. They generally start in May, with start and end dates flexible based on your availability.

Requirements

• Have a passion for nature, the environment, and the outdoors.
• Be pursuing a degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Turfgrass, Horticulture, Environmental Science, Plant Science, Outdoor Recreation, Agriculture, or a related field.
• Be interested in working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Have a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work on a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Learn and safely perform arboriculture work, including pruning, rigging, cabling and bracing, root collar excavations, and removals.
• Properly maintain and operate equipment, including hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Learn about integrated pest management programs, including property inspections, tree identification, insect and disease identification and management, and soil sampling.
• Perform record-keeping and report writing, and participate in client relations.
• Participate in safety and training meetings.
• Develop professional relationships with colleagues.
