About The Position

The Arboriculture Intern works alongside Bartlett Tree Experts’ arborists to gain hands-on field experience in scientific tree and shrub care on commercial and residential properties. The internship offers practical training in arboriculture and exposure to different aspects of the industry. Summer internships last 8–12 weeks, are 40 hours per week, and generally start in May; start and end dates are flexible based on availability.

Requirements

• A passion for nature, the environment, and the outdoors.
• Pursuing a degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Turfgrass, Horticulture, Environmental Science, Plant Science, Outdoor Recreation, Agriculture, or a related field.
• Interest in working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work on a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Learn and safely perform arboriculture work, including pruning, rigging, cabling and bracing, root collar excavations, and removals.
• Properly maintain and operate hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Learn integrated pest management practices, including property inspections, tree identification, insect and disease identification and management, and soil sampling.
• Perform record-keeping and report writing and participate in client relations.
• Participate in safety and training meetings.
• Develop professional relationships and friendships while working with a multidisciplinary team.
