About The Position

The Arbitrage Rebate Analyst supports municipal clients by analyzing and reporting on arbitrage calculations related to tax-exempt bonds. The role involves reviewing financial data, calculating arbitrage rebate and yield restriction liabilities, preparing client reports, and providing information and guidance regarding IRS arbitrage rules and compliance. The position offers an opportunity to specialize in municipal finance and taxation and support the financial health and compliance of public sector clients. This is an office-based role with occasional travel to client locations for meetings. Work location requirements should be discussed with a Baker Tilly talent acquisition professional.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, or a related field.
At least 1 year of related consulting or accounting experience.
Strong analytical skills and ability to manage large datasets.
Familiarity with municipal bonds, arbitrage rules, and IRS rebate requirements.
Proficiency in Excel, Word, and financial modeling software.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and discussing findings with clients.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
Effective time management skills to handle multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

CPA certification is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

Gather, review, and analyze financial data related to bond issuance, investment of bond proceeds, and project expenditures; summarize findings for internal review and client reports.
Perform calculations to determine arbitrage rebate and yield restriction liabilities for tax-exempt bond issuers.
Prepare detailed reports summarizing arbitrage findings and potential liabilities.
Stay current with tax laws and IRS regulations related to municipal bonds and provide clients with information and guidance to support compliance.
Communicate with municipal clients about arbitrage rebate and yield restriction requirements, provide updates, and discuss strategies for managing liabilities.
