About The Position

The North Rutherford YMCA is hiring a full-time Aquatics Team Leader. The role supports and supervises Lifeguards, keeps daily pool operations on track, and builds positive relationships with members. The schedule is flexible and includes evenings and weekends. Pay starts at $14 per hour, with a higher rate possible depending on experience.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification and intermediate swimming ability.
• At least 500 hours and two seasons of lifeguarding experience, with the ability to lead others.
• Strong communication, sound judgment, initiative, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Experience with pool operations and chemical testing.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Pool Operator certification.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, organize, and schedule Lifeguards, ensuring the pool and surrounding areas are properly covered.
• Enforce pool rules, respond to emergencies, identify hazards, and complete required reports.
• Help lead staff trainings, evaluations, readiness drills, and daily opening and closing procedures.
• Monitor pool and whirlpool chemical levels and help keep the aquatic facility clean, organized, and ready for members.
• Build relationships with members and connect them with YMCA aquatics programs and resources.
