About The Position

Instruct water aerobics classes in a safe, enjoyable and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
CPR, First Aid and AED for the Professional Rescuer Certifications as well as Emergency Oxygen.
YMCA Water Aerobic/Fitness certification or equivalent.
Strong communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal)
Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations.

Nice To Haves

At least one year of experience teaching water fitness classes preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead energizing, fun, safe and educational classes.
Instruct participants on effective workout methods by explaining proper techniques and demonstrating the exercises.
Teach appropriate methods to strengthen specific methods.
Ensure proper equipment is available and music is ready for each class.
Build effective, authentic relationships with members; helping to build the connection with the YMCA.
Share information on aquatics programming and subsequent schedules.
As appropriate participants to other YMCA programs.
Maintain accurate, complete and timely program records including but not limited to attendance sheets and accident/incident forms.
Understand, communicate and consistently apply all safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
Report any unsafe conditions/equipment to supervisor immediately.
Attend all staff meetings and in-service trainings.
Adheres to policies related to boundaries with youth.
Participates in required abuse risk management training.
Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.
Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements.
Adheres to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities.
