About The Position

An Aquatic Center Leader plans, promotes, oversees and conducts aquatic programs at a community aquatic center. Work of this class involves leading part-time pool staff but does not perform full supervisory duties or responsibilities. Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior.

Requirements

Graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.
Three (3) years of experience in aquatics recreational activities including teaching swimming lessons.
Hold and maintain the following certificates issued by the American Red Cross: Lifeguard Certificate, Lifeguard Instructor Certificate, Water Safety Instructor Certificate, Certified Pool Operator.
Knowledge of the techniques of designing, planning and promoting aquatic activities.
Knowledge of water hazards, lifesaving techniques and equipment.
Knowledge of first aid and safety instructions.
Knowledge of the use and care of recreational equipment.
Ability to analyze community and group aquatic needs.
Ability to select and adapt programs to meet community and group needs.
Ability to work effectively with large groups of people.
