About The Position

E.W. Wylie is hiring an apprentice-level Service Technician to learn the work of a professional technician in a heavy-equipment shop. The apprentice will partner with senior technicians and work on trucks or trailers, depending on preference and organizational need, helping maintain the fleet. The company provides training and mentorship to support apprentices in becoming experienced technicians, with opportunities to advance to more complex mechanical work.

Requirements

• Basic understanding of hand tools.
• Strong desire to learn and grow professionally through hands-on work.
• Excellent listening and communication skills for interactions with mentors, peers, and drivers.
• Effective time-management skills and ability to prioritize work in a dynamic environment.
• Comfort with basic computer navigation for diagnostic software and professional documentation.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of mechanical experience, professional or personal.
• Strong understanding of industry tools and experience using them.

Responsibilities

• Complete preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, and equipment, including oil changes, filter services, APU services, seals, bearings, and DOT inspections.
• Perform corrective maintenance on heavy equipment, including body panel replacement, electrical diagnosis and replacement, driver-monitoring equipment repairs, and frame repairs.
• Diagnose fleet equipment issues using diagnostic software.
• Use maintenance software to review pending services and repair history and create repair orders.
