About The Position

OCL Group Inc. is seeking a motivated and ambitious 3rd or 4th year Apprentice Pipefitter for their fabrication shop located NE of Fort Saskatchewan, AB. The company specializes in the design and fabrication of pressure piping, fittings, and vessels for the industrial, heavy civil, oil and gas, and mining industries. This role involves assisting journeymen, maintaining equipment, reading blueprints, and fabricating/repairing piping systems. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 8-10 hours/day, with potential for overtime, weekend work, and site work in the future.

Requirements

  • Registered 3rd or 4th year Apprentice Pipefitter
  • Previous experience in a similar setting and industry
  • CSTS 2020 Fundamentals (contains WHMIS 2015)
  • Class 5 driver’s license with reliable transportation to and from work
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

Nice To Haves

  • Previous fabrication shop experience is an asset
  • May be required to complete a pre-access drug and alcohol test when working on certain sites
  • May need to have certain safety tickets and complete site specific orientations for certain sites

Responsibilities

  • Assist journeymen pipefitters, supervisors and co-workers with pipefitting related tasks.
  • Maintain equipment.
  • Read blueprints and specifications.
  • Layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain and repair piping systems which carry water, steam, chemicals or fuel used in heating, cooling, lubricating and other processes.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of functional operation of various piping system components by measuring, cutting, threading, grooving of pipes, valves and fittings
  • Layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain and repair pressurized piping systems
  • Hydrotest and install fabricated pipe spools within structural steel modular assemblies, adding designed supports as required
  • Use testing equipment effectively to check for system leaks and troubleshoot fitting errors
  • Maintain all tools, work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion
  • Read and interpret client and company supplied construction fabrication drawings and specifications
  • Red-line update drawings to an as-built condition
  • Ensure FLRA is completed at the beginning of every job and work is completed safely.
  • Complete equipment maintenance in line with OCL Group and industry standards, procedures and practices.
  • May perform other related duties assigned
  • Maintain shop cleanliness.

Benefits

  • 3rd and 4th year rates are 80% and 90% respectively of Journeyperson wage which is $44.00 per hour.
