About The Position

The Apprentice Engineer supports the operation, inspection, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment and systems in assigned facilities. This entry-level role works under supervision and emphasizes safe work practices, with potential opportunities for growth in the engineering field. The position may be part of a multi-year training program.

The schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with rotating on-call duty one week every four weeks. This is an on-site position in San Francisco, California. The listed union hourly rate is $49.73. Expected annual compensation is $103,438.

Requirements

• Must be able to join the Apprentice program, if applicable.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Comfort using ladders up to 30 feet tall.
• Ability to frequently climb, bend, kneel, lift, and/or drive.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Assist the engineering team with maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment.
• Assist with general maintenance, including carpentry, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and/or painting.
• Complete assigned work orders in the CMMS and maintain appropriate service documentation.
• Keep tools, parts, equipment, and supplies clean and safe.
• Work under the direction of Operating Engineers, Chief Engineers, and others.
• Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs.
• Support on-call or emergency response situations, if applicable.
• Perform other projects and tasks as assigned.
