Apprentice Diesel Tech-Mechanic
About The Position
TravelCenters of America is seeking a Diesel Technician to provide accurate and efficient service to customers by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks and trailers in a reasonable and responsible manner while meeting company and industry standards. The role involves diagnosing problems, planning and communicating repairs, completing mechanical and electrical repairs, and maintaining safe and clean work areas. The technician also recommends other TA services during inspection reviews and helps maintain the safety of customers and employees. The employer describes a collaborative, customer-focused environment and offers a pay range of $17.00–$20.40 per hour. Compensation depends on factors such as responsibilities, job requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Some benefit plans may not be available to all team members.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Graduate of an acceptable trade school or manufacturer’s technical school, or previous mechanic experience.
- Willingness to expand professional knowledge through education and training programs.
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
- Ability to work in interior and exterior conditions.
- Ability to meet the physical task requirements, with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities
- Provide customer service in a team environment, aiming to exceed customer expectations.
- Perform diagnostic testing and interpret results.
- Develop a repair plan and communicate it to the Service Advisor.
- Repair malfunctioning parts and other mechanical or electrical equipment.
- Complete repairs safely, effectively, and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Recommend other TA services to customers as part of the inspection review process.
- Help maintain the safety of customers and employees.
