Apprentice Diesel Tech-Mechanic
About The Position
TravelCenters of America is seeking an Apprentice Diesel Tech-Mechanic to provide accurate and efficient service by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks and trailers in accordance with company and industry standards. The role involves diagnostic testing, interpreting results, developing and communicating repair plans, and completing repairs safely and effectively. Team members work in interior and exterior conditions and may work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays. The position requires investment in personal tools and the ability to meet the physical requirements of the work, with or without accommodation. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Graduate of an acceptable trade school or manufacturer’s technical school, or previous mechanic experience.
- Willingness to expand professional knowledge through education and training programs.
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays, in interior and exterior conditions.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the work, with or without accommodation.
- Investment in personal tools.
- Works well with others and is eager to be part of the team.
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate, efficient service to customers by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
- Perform diagnostic testing and interpret the results.
- Develop a repair plan and communicate it to the Service Advisor.
- Repair malfunctioning parts and other mechanical or electrical equipment.
- Complete repairs safely, effectively, and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Recommend other TravelCenters of America services to customers as part of the inspection review process.
- Help maintain the safety of customers and employees.
