About The Position

Crain Kia of Fayetteville is seeking a motivated Apprentice Automotive Technician to join their 90-Day Main-Line Development Program. This program is designed for individuals with prior experience in Quick Lane, Express Lube, or similar automotive maintenance roles who are eager to advance into a Main-Line Automotive Technician position. The program focuses on developing skills, earning certifications, and advancing within the automotive field, moving beyond basic maintenance tasks. Participants will be paired with experienced technicians for hands-on training and will be required to complete online manufacturer training and certification courses. Successful completion of the program can lead to advancement to a Main-Line Technician role with greater responsibilities and earning potential.

Requirements

  • Previous Quick Lane, Express Lube, tire shop, dealership maintenance, or comparable automotive experience.
  • Basic automotive mechanical knowledge.
  • Own a basic set of automotive technician tools.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Strong attendance and work ethic.
  • Willingness to complete required online training.
  • Desire to learn diagnostics and more advanced automotive repair.
  • Ability to work alongside and learn from an experienced technician.
  • Genuine interest in building a long-term career as an automotive technician.

Nice To Haves

  • ASE or manufacturer certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Gain hands-on experience with brake systems and brake repair, steering and suspension, cooling systems, starting and charging systems, basic electrical diagnosis, HVAC systems, maintenance and fluid services, vehicle inspections, and identifying needed repairs.
  • Learn proper use of diagnostic and shop equipment, repair procedures, and service information.
  • Understand dealership repair-order processes and manufacturer warranty procedures.
  • Properly document diagnosis and repairs.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform increasingly complex repairs correctly and independently as skills develop.
  • Complete assigned online manufacturer training and certification courses.
  • Demonstrate learned skills through hands-on tasks.
  • Ensure quality and accuracy of repairs.
  • Manage productivity and time effectively.
  • Perform proper diagnosis and repair procedures.
  • Conduct quality vehicle inspections.
  • Utilize tool knowledge and adhere to shop safety standards.
  • Maintain good attendance and dependability.
  • Accept coaching and apply feedback.
