About The Position

Prepare appraisals in compliance with USPAP, state law, and VDOT policies and procedures. The role also involves researching and summarizing sales for BARs as needed, reviewing appraisals for accuracy, reasonableness, and compliance, and preparing review appraisals with recommendations. Review highway plans to determine appraisal needs and perform other duties, tasks, activities, and projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to effectively communicate complex information orally and in writing to a wide variety of individuals.
• Ability to resolve work-related issues and disputes professionally and through established business practices.
• Knowledge of eminent domain appraisal principles and procedures.
• Knowledge of software used for daily duties, such as Word, Excel, and Adobe.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an appraiser license or certification.
• Ability to read and interpret highway plans and highway construction.
• Knowledge of various appraisal methods.

Nice To Haves

• Training, experience, or education in real estate appraising or a related field.
• Certified General Real Estate Appraiser credential.
• Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser credential.
• Knowledge of right-of-way appraising.

Responsibilities

• Prepare appraisals in compliance with USPAP, state law, and VDOT policies and procedures.
• Prepare appraisals, sales research, and summaries for BARs as needed.
• Review appraisals for accuracy, reasonableness, and compliance with applicable appraisal practices, USPAP, laws, and VDOT policies and procedures.
• Prepare review appraisals and recommendations based on appraisal reviews.
• Review plans to determine appraisal needs.
• Perform other duties, tasks, activities, and projects as assigned.
