About The Position

As an Appraisal Specialist, you deliver exceptional customer experiences while helping achieve store Appraisal Buy goals. You engage with customers, build trust, and guide them through the appraisal process with confidence and professionalism in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. The role involves explaining the CarMax appraisal process, facilitating appraisal steps, and accurately collecting and entering information to support precise offers. The position pays $15.01 per hour and is eligible for commission.

Requirements

• Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service in a dynamic environment.
• Strong attention to detail when reading, interpreting, and transcribing data.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a high-energy, fast-paced setting.
• Excellent verbal communication and listening skills for engaging with customers and team members.
• Physical capability to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods, including outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
• Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Wear CarMax-provided work attire.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service throughout every interaction.
• Build rapport quickly with diverse customers and confidently explain the CarMax appraisal process.
• Communicate in person and by phone to understand customer motivations and follow up with undecided sellers.
• Advocate for CarMax and explain why it is a smart choice for selling a car.
• Facilitate appraisal steps, including discovery, presenting offers, and addressing objections.
• Accurately collect and input data to support precise appraisal offers.
• Maintain composure under pressure and support positive customer experiences in challenging situations.
• Follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements and maintain a clean, orderly work area.
• Complete CarMax training and participate in scheduled meetings.

Benefits

• Eligible full-time hourly or commissioned associates can earn up to 48 hours of sick time per year, accrued each pay period.
• Eligible full-time hourly or commissioned associates receive 80 to 200 hours of vacation time per year after a 90-day waiting period, depending on years of continuous service.
• Eligible full-time hourly or commissioned associates receive 8 hours of pay for each of 6 paid scheduled holidays per year, plus 1 floating holiday.
• Holiday Premium Pay may apply when an eligible associate works on a scheduled holiday due to business need.
