About The Position

NVIDIA is seeking a graduate research intern to advance integrated sensing and communications (ISAC) on GPU-accelerated platforms. The intern will join a team developing AI-native wireless systems and will develop, train, and test ISAC algorithms end-to-end on the NVIDIA Aerial Testbed, which combines a GPU-accelerated 5G/6G software stack with over-the-air radios. The role combines algorithm research with implementation and system testing. The intern will develop and benchmark algorithms, build radar signal-processing pipelines, create and train machine-learning models, and integrate algorithms with the Aerial Testbed for real-time over-the-air experiments. They will document results and contribute to publications, patents, and internal technical reports. This is a Summer 2027 internship. The stated intern hourly pay range is USD 20–71, with eligibility for intern benefits.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an MS or PhD program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong background in AI/ML for wireless communications.
  • Solid understanding of ISAC concepts and waveforms, such as OFDM-based sensing.
  • Hands-on experience implementing ISAC or radar algorithms in Python.
  • Hands-on experience with PyTorch or another machine-learning framework, such as TensorFlow or JAX.
  • Demonstrated ability to build new machine-learning model architectures and formulate optimization objectives and loss functions.
  • Knowledge of ISAC signal-processing aspects, including radar cube algorithms and clutter-reduction techniques.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a collaborative research team.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD candidate with publications in ISAC, radar, or ML for wireless.
  • Hands-on experience with real-time over-the-air wireless testbeds, such as software-defined radios (for example, USRP) or 5G testbeds.
  • Experience with GPU programming or acceleration, such as CUDA or CuPy.
  • Familiarity with NVIDIA Aerial (CUDA-Accelerated RAN, Aerial Omniverse Digital Twin) or NVIDIA Sionna.
  • Knowledge of the 3GPP 5G NR physical layer and 6G ISAC study items.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and benchmark ISAC algorithms in Python on NVIDIA GPU platforms.
  • Build radar signal-processing pipelines, including radar cube formation, range and Doppler processing, angle estimation, CFAR detection, and clutter suppression such as MTI, static clutter removal, and adaptive filtering.
  • Compose machine-learning model architectures for sensing and joint sensing-communications tasks, and formulate corresponding loss functions and optimization objectives.
  • Train and evaluate models in PyTorch using simulated and over-the-air captured data.
  • Integrate algorithms with the NVIDIA Aerial Testbed and conduct real-time over-the-air experiments.
  • Detail results and contribute to publications, patents, and internal technical reports.

Benefits

  • Eligible for intern benefits.
