About The Position

The Applications Analyst supports the Information Systems team and the applications that power hospital revenue cycle operations. The role primarily supports revenue cycle applications and partners with Patient Financial Services, Health Information Management, and operational leaders to optimize workflows, improve system performance, and maintain reliable application performance. The focus includes applications and workflows for billing, coding, reimbursement, and related downstream revenue cycle processes. Experience with MEDITECH Expanse Revenue Cycle modules—such as Abstracting, Billing, and Charge Services—or related financial workflows is strongly preferred.

Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience as a Systems Analyst, Revenue Cycle Applications Analyst, or Project Lead supporting patient accounting/billing, claims, and reimbursement workflows.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills, including the ability to translate between revenue cycle operations and technical teams or vendors.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume operational environment while managing competing priorities and time-sensitive revenue-impacting issues.
• Hands-on experience with EHR/RCM data and transactions, including HL7/charges, claim formats (837/835/271), remittance/ERA, and data used for billing and reimbursement.
• Experience partnering with clearinghouses to facilitate claim submission, monitor rejections, troubleshoot edits, and ensure timely, clean claim transmission.
• Ability to analyze and resolve charge capture issues, including missing or duplicate charges, charging rules, charge routing, modifiers, and downstream effects on claims and reimbursement.
• Working knowledge of revenue cycle regulations and standards affecting billing and collections, including HIPAA transaction standards, payer requirements, Medicare/Medicaid rules, and NCCI/CCI concepts as applicable.

Nice To Haves

• Healthcare Information Systems experience.
• MEDITECH Expanse Revenue Cycle experience, particularly Patient Accounting or Revenue Cycle modules, including Abstracting, Billing, or Charge Services.
• Experience supporting application build, testing, upgrades, and optimization.

• Translate operational needs between revenue cycle teams—including Patient Access, Billing, Accounts Receivable, and HIM/Coding—and technical teams or vendors.
