About The Position

The Application Analyst is responsible for advancing the functionality and operational efficiency of assigned information systems and solutions. This entails analysis, design and development of new software modules; advising, assisting, and training customers in the operation and administration of their systems; and collaborating with customers to enhance their work methodologies and tools. The Application Analyst is charged with ensuring the services that he/she provides contribute to the successful accomplishment of the primary mission of the department. The Application Analyst possesses sufficient technical expertise to support an assigned application, but may be called upon to assist with multiple applications. The Application Analyst supports the Project Management activities required to deliver valuable relevant solutions and assists in the development of project schedules, plans and timelines. The Application Analyst reports directly to the Manager, while receiving leadership from Senior and Lead Application Analysts. The Application Analyst applies skills, in line with MH’s values and goals, to assure the efficient, effective and consistent delivery of high quality services. The Application Analyst is responsible for demonstrating a commitment to the values of the corporation through active participation in the Partners In Caring, Customer Service and Continuous Quality Improvement programs.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or two 2 years experience
  • Industry training and increasingly responsible experience with knowledge and skills in a large, complex corporate Information System
  • Basic working knowledge of application support, development tools and methodologies
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in a large, corporate systems development and implementation activities in a wide variety of Healthcare Management Information Systems (MIS) experience in system analysis, design, building, testing and implementation preferred

Responsibilities

  • With moderate supervision by Manager or Team Lead, sets priorities, understands business and clinical applications, answers technical questions and performs all assigned tasks.
  • Uses PC system development tools to develop and deploy queries, simple applications, moderately complex reports and other business solutions.
  • Translates customer requests into software application solution specifications, appropriate to assigned tasks.
  • Maintains detailed technical knowledge of assigned applications.
  • Thinks, plans, leads and acts appropriately in tactical settings.
  • Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Identifies issues and concerns and communicates them to Team Lead and/or Manager as appropriate.
  • Develops options and recommendations.
  • Assists customers with optimizing their use of assigned applications and specific project-driven tasks.
  • Participates in after-hours application support by rotating call schedule on a regular basis.
  • Provides training, support, and problem resolution to customers.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by Manager or Team Lead.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
