About The Position
Our client, a major bank in New York City, is looking for an Application Support Engineer Consultant for an initial 3-6 month contract with the possibility for extensions and an option to hire. This role requires 5 days on-site in the NYC Office. The Application Support Engineer provides application and operational support for equity trading platforms and related business applications. The role works closely with traders, sales teams, vendors, and technology teams to ensure production systems operate effectively.
Requirements
- Must be authorized to work for ANY employer in US - NO H1 Visa support for this role
- Degree in Finance, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Interest in financial markets and technology.
- Ability to learn SQL, scripting, and production support tools.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Nice To Haves
- Experience with databases, reporting, or data analysis.
- Exposure to financial services, trading, or investment operations.
- Familiarity with Python, SQL, PowerShell, or Linux.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and support trading and middle-office applications.
- Investigate and resolve production incidents and user issues.
- Analyze data, logs, and reports to identify problems and trends.
- Perform user onboarding, access reviews, and operational controls.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal technology teams to resolve issues.
- Support system upgrades, testing, and new business initiatives.
- Create and maintain operational procedures and documentation.
- Participate in after-hours support rotations as experience grows.
