About The Position

Metallus is seeking an Application Lab Engineering Intern to join their team. This internship program is designed to provide interns with opportunities to grow their skills, develop as leaders, and network with managers and leaders. Interns will gain real work experience in a team environment and receive career readiness development through workshops. Metallus is an industry leader in manufacturing steel for various markets including industrial, aerospace and defense, automotive, and energy.

Requirements

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Must have completed 30 or more credit hours by the end of the spring 2027 semester
  • Must be a full-time student attending an accredited two-year or four-year college/university

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred majors: Materials Science & Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related
  • Microsoft Office experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform metallurgical investigations or failure analyses to determine root cause of defects and steel quality issues
  • Produce quality investigative reports and material related documentation
  • Prepare metallographic samples (sample sectioning, mounting, polishing)
  • Utilize optical and scanning electron microscopy to evaluate metallurgical features
  • Analyze material for steel cleanness and characterization
