About The Position

This position is open to Alaska Residents only. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Commercial Fisheries is recruiting for an Application Developer 1/2/3 located in Juneau, Alaska! The role is pivotal in making sure that data can be used to maintain healthy, sustainable fisheries for our state and the people who live in it. The Fish Ticket system plays a vital role in aggregating commercial catch data.

Requirements

  • Software Development: Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools for designing, developing, and testing software in a given environment.
  • Customer Service: Anticipates and meets the needs of both internal and external customers. Delivers high-quality products and services; is committed to continuous improvement.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Troubleshoots, diagnoses, analyzes, and identifies system malfunctions to determine the source and cause of the problem.

  • Computers and Electronics: Knowledge of electric circuit boards, processors, chips, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Computer Languages: Knowledge of computer languages and their applications to enable a system to perform specific functions and skill in designing, writing, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and maintaining the source code of computer programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, support, and maintain the various parts of the Fish Ticket System.
  • Assist fisheries’ staff in ensuring the quality of fish ticket data.
