About The Position

Reflexive Concepts is seeking an Application Developer for a hands-on backend role. The position focuses primarily on building Java libraries and integration services, with some Python development as needed. These components ingest constantly changing data sources, interpret and transform varied formats into a common, reusable schema consumed by applications across the organization. The role has no UI work and emphasizes reliable, robust backend services, performance, and scalability.

The position also includes system administration responsibilities. The engineer will help manage and optimize MongoDB services, work in a Linux environment, and handle operational tasks such as server upgrades, RPM installation, service monitoring, and troubleshooting environment issues. The role contributes to architectural decisions about data modeling and integration patterns and uses Git-based source control, code reviews, and ongoing improvements to development workflows.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Mathematics; four years of equivalent related military experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree. A Master of Computer Science or Computer Engineering is also listed.
• Knowledge and experience in three or more of the following: system requirements analysis, software system design, software system development, software system integration, and software system testing.
• Experience in four or more of the following: developing applications in C, C++, or Java; developing applications for Unix, Linux, or Windows; developing DLLs for Windows; object-oriented programming; computer telephony platform development using technology cards such as Dialogic; working knowledge of listed protocols and standards; web development and listed web technologies; scripting in Perl, Python, Bourne shell, C shell, or other proprietary languages; database experience with Sybase, Oracle, or Microsoft; reverse engineering and software analysis; Unix/Linux kernel knowledge; and bit-level data analysis.
• Deep experience in Java and familiarity with Python.
• Strong understanding of varied data formats, including JSON, XML, CSV, and custom structures.
• Practical experience administering Linux-based systems and MongoDB in production environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to perform both development and operational tasks.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend libraries and services that transform diverse data formats into a common, reusable schema.
• Design and implement data ingestion and transformation logic.
• Create and maintain shared libraries for common data formats.
• Ensure the performance and scalability of software components.
• Contribute to architectural decisions about data modeling and integration patterns.
• Help manage and optimize MongoDB services.
• Perform Linux operational tasks, including upgrading servers, installing RPMs, monitoring services, and troubleshooting environment issues.
• Collaborate using Git-based source control, code reviews, and continuous improvement of development workflows.
