About The Position

Application Analysts, Pharmacy Automation serve as a key liaison between Pharmacy, Nursing, Information Systems, and vendor partners, ensuring pharmacy automation technologies function seamlessly across Baptist Health. This role requires a strong understanding of pharmacy operations, medication management workflows, automation technologies, and healthcare information systems. Analysts translate operational needs into reliable technology solutions that improve system performance, streamline workflows, support medication safety, and enhance patient care. A significant portion of an analyst's day is devoted to resolving break-fix issues, performing routine application and hardware maintenance, monitoring system performance, and troubleshooting pharmacy automation technologies. Responsibilities include supporting automated dispensing cabinets, pharmacy applications, interfaces, barcode medication systems, and related technologies while assisting with system upgrades, new implementations, software updates, workflow validation, and vendor coordination. Much of the coordination and follow-up for these responsibilities is conducted through structured communication channels, including Microsoft Teams, email, support tickets, and scheduled project meetings. Application Analysts, Pharmacy Automation also spend time collaborating with Pharmacy, Nursing, Information Systems, Clinical Informatics, Biomedical Engineering, operational leaders, and vendor partners to identify opportunities for workflow optimization and technology improvements. Their week may include implementation planning, testing events, project meetings, training sessions, and production support activities. Throughout the day, analysts work directly with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, nurses, and other end users to resolve technical issues, implement enhancements, support onboarding activities, and ensure pharmacy automation systems remain reliable, secure, and aligned with organizational priorities. Although remote eligible, this position requires regular on-site presence to support pharmacy hardware, implementation activities, and hands-on troubleshooting. Participation in an on-call rotation, including evenings and weekends, is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting healthcare applications, pharmacy systems, or automation technologies preferred.
  • Experience implementing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting healthcare applications and integrated technologies preferred: OmniCell and other pharmacy 3rd party applications
  • Strong understanding of pharmacy operations, medication management workflows, automated dispensing technologies, and healthcare information systems preferred.
  • Experience participating in application implementations, upgrades, testing, and production support preferred.
  • Experience collaborating with operational leaders, clinicians, and vendor partners to improve workflows and resolve technical issues preferred.
  • Ability to analyze operational requirements and translate them into effective technology solutions preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of pharmacy automation applications, hardware, and related technologies.
  • Troubleshoot pharmacy automation systems, applications, interfaces, hardware, and workflow issues while collaborating with technical teams, operational leaders, and vendor partners to ensure timely resolution.
  • Plan, configure, test, implement, maintain, and support pharmacy automation applications and supporting technologies.
  • Participate in application implementations, software upgrades, hardware deployments, system testing, and workflow optimization initiatives.
  • Support onboarding and training activities for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, nursing staff, and other end users.
  • Perform quality assurance and integrated testing to validate new functionality, system enhancements, and application upgrades prior to production deployment.
  • Develop and maintain workflow documentation, technical documentation, testing scripts, and support procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve operational efficiency, medication safety, and pharmacy automation performance.
  • Monitor system performance, identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and recommend workflow enhancements.
  • Participate in an on-call support rotation for critical pharmacy automation systems.
