About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This position involves 3 days of dermatology outreach per week and 1 day a week in the East Grand Forks clinic. The Nurse Practitioner will work collaboratively with dermatologists and other healthcare providers, performing skin assessments, diagnoses, and procedures, including biopsies and cosmetic treatments. The role is vital in patient education, disease prevention, and promoting skin health.

Requirements

• Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice.
• Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice.
• State Controlled Substance License (if required by State).
• National board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (NP-C) or (FNP-BC).
• Obtains and subsequently maintains required specific competencies and certifications as outlined on privilege form.
• Privileging documents and related credentialing requirements will supersede this job description in defining minimum qualifications, criteria, and scope of practice, if variation between documents exists.

Nice To Haves

• If APRN was licensed prior to August 1, 1995, master's degree in nursing is preferred.
• Minimum 1–2 years of dermatology or relevant NP experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive dermatologic evaluations and skin exams.
• Diagnose and manage conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, skin cancers, infections, and hair/nail disorders.
• Perform procedures & cosmetic treatments (as privileged).
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., lab work, cultures, pathology reports).
• Prescribe medications and develop treatment plans.
• Educate patients on skincare, disease prevention, and treatment compliance.
• Document patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Collaborate with dermatologist on complex or high-risk cases.
